Friday, May 27, we’ll be be making our Seattle debut! While in town to record our new record, we are excited to be playing a show with Slow Skate at The Sunset Tavern in Beautiful Ballard.
Fast forward about a month, and we’ll again be playing with Slow Skate, but this time on our home turf: Sunday, June 19th, at the Rickshaw Stop with local favorites Stripmall Architecture.
And then of course, there’s our new album release show! But this is all still TBD, “up in the air” so they say.
It’s going to be a good year!

We’re very excited to announce The Northern Key will be recording our second full-length record in Seattle with Jason Goessl of Slow Skate! We will be recording the record Memorial Day weekend.
To help fund it, we put up a Kickstarter page. This way, we can pay for recording/record pressing costs with pre-orders, as well as other goodies.
We will be pressing a full-length vinyl after we’ve completed the recording. What’s that you say? You don’t have a record player? Well, a digital download of the record will be included with each vinyl pressing and if you’re simply stuck between 1990 and 2002 we will get you a purdy compact disc of sorts if you request it.
We’re really looking forward to releasing and promoting this second record. 2010 was an amazing year for us. We were invited to play Noisepop at Bimbos opening for Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. We also managed to play The Rickshaw Stop with Grand Archives as well as The Independent with The Clientele!
Your donations will help fund the following:
-Recording Costs
-Pressing Costs
-Travel Costs
$2750 for all that?!! How can it be?!! Well, $2750 is the minimum, but we’re hoping to raise even more than that.
Thank you to all our friends and family who have supported us from the beginning and who continue to support us.
We love ya and look forward to sharing this new record with you!!!

It’s a big week for The Northern Key. The much anticipated record will be released on Tricycle Records Tuesday, February 2nd with a release show on Wednesday, February 3rd.
About the record:
“The Northern Key” (self titled LP) came alive at Different Fur Studios in San Francisco with Chris Chu (The Morning Benders) recording and mixing and local musician Jen Grady contributing vocals and cello. Such spontaneity allowed years of dreaming to crystallize into a well-crafted—but not overworked—work of art.
About the show:
Please join us Wednesday February 4th at The Makeout Room in San Francisco for the Record Release Show hosted by Penny Arcade and featuring live performances by Loquat, The Northern Key, Marabelle Phoenix, and Todayokay. Doors are at 7:30 and the cover is $8. The show will sell out, and there are no advance tickets, so please arrive early.
